Job Title:
Tooling Design Engineer Job Description This Engineering role focuses on designing and developing jigs, fixtures, and tooling that support high-volume production and quality inspection processes. The position combines hands-on 3D design work with close collaboration across manufacturing, quality, and vendor teams to improve efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability on the shop floor. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad experience in design, customer-facing collaboration, and quality control within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Design and develop new jigs, fixtures, and tooling to support production and quality inspection processes. Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify fixture and tooling improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability. Prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and documentation required for fixture and tooling fabrication. Coordinate with machine shops, external vendors, and internal cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate build, delivery, and implementation of fixtures and tooling. Troubleshoot and resolve fixture- and tooling-related issues that arise during production runs, working closely with production and quality teams. Maintain accurate records of fixture designs, revisions, configurations, and usage history in accordance with internal standards. Ensure fixture and tooling designs comply with applicable safety, ergonomic, and quality standards. Collaborate with quality teams to ensure fixtures support inspection requirements, including compatibility with CMM and other measurement equipment. Contribute engineering input to process improvement projects that enhance product quality and manufacturing throughput. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related industry experience. Proficiency in 3D design using CAD software to create detailed models and assemblies for jigs, fixtures, and tooling. Experience in tooling design, including the development of production and inspection fixtures. Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its application in drawings and inspection. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards to guide fixture and tooling design. Experience working within manufacturing or production environments, collaborating with production and quality teams. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve fixture-related issues in a timely manner. Effective communication skills to coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
