Fulltime/Direct Hire Position Summary The Fiber Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and analyzing Outside Plant (OSP) fiber facilities and networks. This role supports major fiber build projects by performing detailed reviews of High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD), developing construction-ready engineering designs, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, within budget, and in compliance with engineering and regulatory standards. The Fiber Engineer must be capable of exercising independent judgment, prioritizing work effectively, and developing practical engineering solutions while meeting project timelines and operational objectives. Key Responsibilities Plan, design, and analyze Outside Plant (OSP) fiber networks, including feeder and distribution facilities. Perform detailed reviews of High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD) to ensure constructability, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements. Develop detailed engineering and construction-ready designs to support large-scale fiber deployment and expansion initiatives. Support OSP construction activities, including contractor oversight, field coordination, and issue resolution. Conduct job costing activities and monitor project expenditures to ensure costs remain within approved budgets. Investigate cost variances and prepare supporting documentation for cost overruns when necessary. Coordinate construction budgets and assist with project management responsibilities as assigned. Support and, when required, manage Right-of-Way (ROW) coordination and compliance activities. Ensure all engineering and construction activities comply with company standards, industry best practices, and applicable regulatory requirements. Required Skills and Qualifications Strong experience with Outside Plant (OSP) fiber design, planning, and construction methodologies. Hands-on FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) experience is required. Demonstrated expertise in OSP Design, OSP Construction, OSP Planning, and contractor oversight. Experience with IQGeo and AutoCAD is required. Strong engineering background with proven experience supporting fiber network deployments. Solid understanding of outside plant build, installation, testing, and maintenance practices. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate multiple variables and develop practical engineering solutions. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet aggressive deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and engineering/GIS tools preferred. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and establish priorities with minimal supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Additional Notes Management experience is not required. Financial/project budgeting responsibilities are primarily handled by the Project Manager in the market. Candidate must be comfortable working in a hybrid environment with an in-office presence 2-3 days per week. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting large-scale fiber deployment or telecommunications infrastructure projects. Familiarity with ROW permitting, utility coordination, and regulatory compliance processes. Knowledge of fiber construction standards, testing procedures, and industry best practices. Work Environment This role includes a combination of office and field-based responsibilities, requiring collaboration with engineering teams, contractors, and project stakeholders. Occasional travel to project sites may be required based on project needs.
