Job Description
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year Job description:Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative team focused on delivering world-class universal and custom in-ear monitors (IEMs). This role will bridge product development and production by designing high-performance audio products, generating CNC toolpaths, and supporting both R&D and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer-aided design and manufacturing processes, with proficiency in various CAD software and machining techniques. This role is essential for producing accurate technical drawings and models that support our engineering and manufacturing operations.Responsibilities:
Develop and refine designs for both universal-fit and custom-fit IEMs, considering acoustic performance, ergonomics, and aesthetics. Create and optimize CNC milling toolpaths for custom and production components, ensuring precision, repeatability, and material efficiency. Work closely with machinists and production teams to troubleshoot and improve toolpath strategies. Operate, calibrate, and maintain CNC milling machines, ensuring consistent performance and minimal downtime. Perform routine maintenance and support upgrades or improvements to machining capabilities. Support the R&D team in prototyping and testing new materials, fit geometries, and acoustic configurations. Contribute to the development of next-generation products, including new driver technologies, acoustic chambers, and hybrid designs. Analyze test data and user feedback to guide iterative product improvement. Utilize CNC programming for milling machines, lathes, and electrical discharge machining processes. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles to ensure precision in designs. Conduct thorough inspections using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges. Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency in design processes. Assist in the development of CAM programming for automated machining operations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in CAD technology. Other duties as assigned.Skills:
Proficient in CAD software including Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Rhino 3D, and CAM programming tools. Strong understanding of CNC programming for both milling machines and lathes. Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts to optimize production workflows. Knowledge of GD&T standards for accurate design specifications. Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques. Ability to read schematics, and technical documents effectively. Mechanical knowledge with a focus on tooling, geometry, and machining processes. Proficient use of precision measuring instruments including bore gauges, calipers, and micrometers. Knowledge of acoustics, ear anatomy, and audio product development. Experience with custom-fit product workflows, including ear impression scanning and model generation. Passion for high-fidelity audio and user-centered product design. Strong mathematical skills for calculations related to design and manufacturing processes.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. 2+ years of experience in product design, preferably in audio, medical devices, or wearables. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360) and CAM software for CNC programming. Hands-on experience with CNC machining, preferably in small-scale precision manufacturing. Familiarity with 3D scanning, 3D printing, and other rapid prototyping tools is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.Benefits:
