This role involves close collaboration with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to develop mechanical design documents. These documents are primarily intended for use in producing drawings necessary for the mechanical permit of facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze mechanical/HVAC theory/calculations, mechanical system components, and devices with some supervision and guidance.
  • Interpret codes, standards, and design inputs and apply them effectively within the design process.
  • Develop calculations, design narratives, and work that serve as the basis for HVAC system designs and project specifications, working independently with minimal direction.
  • Support or serve as Engineer of Record for projects developed under their direction.
  • Review the work of junior team members, providing constructive feedback and specific guidance on how to improve their designs and achieve project objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members with less experience, providing guidance and training to support their professional development and growth.
  • Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, energy calculation software, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and other tools to support setting up projects and assist in project flow.
  • Apply engineering principles to solve technical and coordination issues.
  • Manage project designs and budgets with limited oversight, ensuring projects stay on track with respect to time, cost, and quality.
  • Attend internal coordination meetings, actively participating, making technical decisions, and ensuring that project goals are met with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct site visits and investigations with minimal supervision, or independently as required.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals, ensuring long-term client satisfaction.
  • Develop leadership and management abilities through increased responsibility and experience in project oversight.
  • Provide cross-disciplinary technical and engineering assistance.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by participating in client presentations and identifying new opportunities.
Key Responsibilities continued:
  • Assist in refining and improving processes to enhance efficiency and quality across the team and within project delivery.
  • Take personal ownership of the work produced.
Required Qualifications:
  • Accredited bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering allowing the ability to take the FE and PE exam.
  • Previous Leadership experience preferred or the ability to demonstrate growth potential in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven relevant technical and field experience, with a focus on mechanical system design and integration.
  • Experience working in a professional A/E office, Consulting Firm, Construction Contractor, or similar environment, contributing to the design and execution of mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, energy calculation software, and other design-related tools used in mechanical system design.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and other basic software.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the components within mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems and experience coordinating the integration of these systems into the overall mechanical design.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, with occasional bending and the capacity to lift up to 10 lbs. as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed for project meetings, site visits, or client engagements.
