Their focus on innovation and practicality ensures every project reaches its full potential. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role located in Stuart, FL. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing mechanical systems for marine vessels, including developing detailed drawings, conducting mechanical analyses, and refining designs. Day-to-day tasks; Develop mechanical engineering & naval architecture technical work, including weight studies, hydrostatics reports, waterlines drawings, tank drawings, mechanical systems diagrams & drawings, lamination, spreadsheets and other technical designs, using ACAD/Rhino/NX/GHS/XLS software. Develop structural foundations for equipment including gyro stabilizers, generators, and propulsion. Design and create 3D models of mechanical components and tooling for composite boats. Use design software, including AutoCAD, NX and Rhino to create 2D drawings, drafting, and 3D models. Structural calculations for hull shell & girder strength, scantlings & decks. Performance prediction calculations, resistance & powering, including advanced hull forms. Design for, review, and create compliance documentation for CE, ABYC, USCG, and classification bodies. Use regulatory rules and requirements to design and ensure compliance. Complete on-site visits as necessary for projects, including some travel, both by air and car (mileage to be covered & reimbursable by Ocean5) Prepare materials for design presentation to the customer and for internal review. Maintain fastidious notes for future reference. Work within required timeframes, and be able to prepare internal schedule to meet required deadlines. Qualifications Proficiency in Design Engineering, Mechanical Design, and Product Design Experience in Mechanical Engineering, yacht design and understanding of marine industry requirements Strong skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and related design tools Attention to detail with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering or a related field Previous experience in marine or naval architecture projects. Strong communication and collaboration skills for team-based projects Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
