Job Description

About the Role We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of HVAC and refrigeration-based systems from the ground up. This person should be capable of taking a product from concept through prototype, testing, refinement, and production-ready design. The ideal candidate has deep experience designing complete HVAC systems, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, coils, fans, refrigerant circuits, airflow systems, ducting, thermal management, and mechanical enclosures. This role requires someone who can perform the engineering calculations, create detailed 3D models in SolidWorks, select components, support manufacturing, and work hands-on with prototypes. This is not just a CAD role. We need someone who understands the physics, math, and practical engineering behind HVAC system performance. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field. 5+ years of hands-on experience designing HVAC, refrigeration, dehumidification, heat pump, chiller, or thermal systems. Strong understanding of vapor-compression refrigeration systems. Proven experience designing HVAC systems from concept to production. Advanced experience with SolidWorks , including parts, assemblies, sheet metal, drawings, and design revisions. Ability to perform detailed mechanical and thermodynamic calculations without relying only on vendor recommendations. Experience sizing compressors, evaporators, condensers, fans, refrigerant lines, expansion valves, and coils. Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, psychrometrics, airflow, pressure drop, and energy efficiency. Experience building, testing, and troubleshooting physical prototypes. Ability to work directly with suppliers and manufacturers. Strong documentation skills, including technical drawings, BOMs, test reports, and design notes. Ability to work independently and solve complex engineering problems. Preferred Qualifications Experience with atmospheric water generation, dehumidification, or humidity-control systems. Experience with refrigeration controls, EEVs, TXVs, variable-speed compressors, EC fans, and sensor-based control systems. Experience designing products that use R-410A, R-32, R-454B, R-134a, propane, CO₂, or other refrigerants. Experience with CFD, thermal simulation, or airflow modeling. Experience with UL, ETL, NSF, AHRI, ASHRAE, or other product compliance standards. Experience designing consumer appliances, industrial HVAC equipment, or packaged mechanical systems. Experience with design for manufacturability and low-rate production. Experience working with sheet metal, injection molding, tubing, brazed joints, coils, tanks, and serviceable mechanical assemblies.
