at Henneman Engineering in Champaign, Illinois, United States Job Description Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer Job Description Henneman Engineering Inc.-Industrial Technology Group (ITG) provides comprehensive engineering solutions and consulting services to a broad base of clients. The staff of professionals at Henneman-ITG specializes in electrical, mechanical, chemical, process, controls, plumbing, and structural engineering. Henneman provides design services to the State of Illinois, municipalities, higher education, K-12 school districts, and federal government. ITG's industrial clients include heavy manufacturing, food production, chemical processing, consumer products, energy, and renewable energy. Henneman-ITG currently has a position opportunity for an entry-level mechanical engineer for our Champaign, IL office, in person. Responsibilities of the
Mechanical Engineer:
Perform work as a mechanical engineer in all aspects of project development, including client coordination, pre-design services, final design services, meetings, site visits, and project management. Conduct existing conditions surveys and prepare PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, sections, elevations, and details as appropriate to document relevant conditions. Conceptualize the initial process, mechanical, and plumbing design approach for projects having overall responsibility for the engineering and/or design work related to process, mechanical and plumbing systems, and code requirements. Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines, such as architectural, structural, electrical, and controls to resolve a variety of complex problems (i.e., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements). Organize and prepare process, mechanical, and plumbing construction drawings (PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, sections, elevations, and details as appropriate), technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates. Develop engineering solutions and designs, cost estimates, bill of materials, and schedules for projects. Have knowledge of applicable codes and standards related to mechanical, piping, and plumbing systems. Participate in contract bidding process, prepare and issue responses to contractor requests for information, and prepare and issue bulletin and change order documentation. Provide field engineering and construction services, such as shop drawing review and on-site observation.Areas of Focus:
Chilled Water, Refrigeration, & Ammonia Systems Compressed Air Systems Plumbing & Fire Protection Boiler & Steam / Hot Water Distribution Systems Heating, Ventilation, & Air-Conditioning Systems Water / Wastewater Systems Process Design, PFD, P&ID Equipment Specification, Evaluation, & Selection Utility Piping / Equipment Connections Power Generation / Cogeneration Life Cycle Cost Analysis & Energy Modeling Qualifications/Requirements of theMechanical Engineer:
Education:
4-Year Mechanical Engineering degree required. Being licensed as a Professional Engineer is preferred but not required.Experience:
Entry level. However, Henneman Engineering is open to considering a diverse range of experience and skill levels. Experience with AutoCAD is preferred. Benefits/Perks for theMechanical Engineer:
