JOB DESCRIPTION/TYPICAL TASK BREAKDOWN
The primary responsibilities will be to utilize analytical techniques to develop and validate cooling systems used in construction, mining, power generation, marine applications and locomotives. These applications can include internal combustion engines or battery electric systems.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize analytical techniques (1-D and 3-D simulation tools) to provide simulation support for electrification projects across various platforms, as well as cooling performance simulation for diesel-powered applications. This includes conducting 1-D system simulation for up-front system sizing and component selection for cooling systems as well as performing high-end Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation for virtual design and validation.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Engineering
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
Working knowledge of engine, lubrication/ powertrain cooling and/or electrification systems 2+ years of experience using Fluent, 1-D analysis tools (i.e., GT-Suite) and Creo Strong background in thermo-sciences (courses in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer).
DESIRED SKILLS
1D or 3D cooling component or system analysis experience. Proficiency with CFD tools such as Fluent, Star CCM+ or OpenFOAM. Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, C++ or Java. Working knowledge of diesel engines, powertrain cooling and/or electrification systems. Experience using 1D analysis tools such as GT-Suite. Proficiency with meshing tools such as ANSA or ANSYS Workbench/SpaceClaim. Experience using CAD packages such as Creo.
