Job Description:
Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer 2. The work will be done onsite in Decatur, IL. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $38/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay). Job Summary Cullerton Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to support machine configuration and design integration within a complex engineering environment. This role is heavily focused on Creo-based CAD modeling, drawing review, and engineering change implementation across large mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have strong, hands-on experience using PTC Creo to review, modify, and maintain models and drawings, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure design accuracy and system integration. This position plays a key role in supporting engineering updates, validating design changes, and maintaining configuration integrity across platforms. Key Responsibilities
  • Review, update, and maintain Creo models and engineering drawings to ensure accuracy and alignment with system requirements
  • Evaluate engineering change notices (ECNs) and implement design revisions within Creo
  • Support machine layout and configuration management across large assemblies
  • Maintain and update Bills of Material (BOMs) and ensure proper configuration control
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless system integration
  • Work closely with engineering leads to validate and implement design updates
  • Ensure design consistency, data integrity, and adherence to engineering standards Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • 2-4 years of professional engineering experience (internships do not count)
  • Strong, hands-on experience using PTC Creo (modeling, assemblies, and drawing review)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation
  • Experience supporting engineering changes, revisions, or configuration updates
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Teamcenter or similar PLM systems
  • Background in machine design, heavy equipment, automotive, or wheeled products
  • Experience working with large assemblies and configuration-driven environments
  • Familiarity with BOM structures and engineering change processes Important Candidate Requirements

  • Candidates must have hands-on Creo experience -this is a core requirement for success in the role
