Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Truck Equipment Design Engineer to oversee the full lifecycle of custom truck equipment projects in Dixon, IL. You will serve as a vital link between our Sales, Engineering, and Production departments, ensuring that every project is technically sound, efficient, and fully compatible. Your daily focus will involve customizing equipment, designing chassis layouts, drafting electrical and hydraulic schematics, and assisting with prototype development, all while identifying ways to streamline our manufacturing and installation processes. Core Duties Oversee truck equipment application projects from the initial concept phase to final installation. Generate and update 3D CAD models, technical blueprints, and comprehensive installation manuals. Perform chassis layout configurations, weight distribution studies, and equipment integration planning to ensure vehicle safety and performance. Draft and manage detailed hydraulic and electrical system schematics. Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting assistance to our installation crews. Facilitate technical discussions between Sales and Installation teams to ensure project accuracy and seamless execution. Refine and optimize existing workflows for design, quoting, and installation to boost team productivity. Provide hands-on support for custom builds and prototype development projects. Standardize design components to help the production team achieve greater manufacturing efficiency. Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes affecting truck equipment and chassis systems. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, CAD Design, or a related technical discipline is preferred. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in equipment design, truck body integration, or applications engineering is required. Proficiency in interpreting hydraulic and electrical schematics is required, while knowledge of DOT or FMVSS standards is a plus. Experience with 3D CAD software is required, with a preference for candidates skilled in SolidWorks. Compensation and Logistics Salary:
$60,000 - $80,000 per year. This is a full-time, on-site position on the 1st shift, operating Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
