Posted 1 week ago Secret Unspecified Unspecified Engineering - Mechanical Crane, IN (On-Site/Office) Description SAIC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.
JOB DESCRIPTION
You will be part of a collaborative team of engineers and support technicians working to bring a variety of mechanical designs from the early concept stage all the way through fabrication.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
Provide technical leadership and management services for several mechanical launch/platform systems. Manage SAIC's technical engineering activities and provide leadership for engineers, designers, CAD draftsmen and technicians in support of the TRIDENT (D5) missile systems, the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) missile systems used on the new
COLUMBIA/DREADNOUGHT CLASS
submarines. Lead SAIC's mechanical engineering duties for the USAF Minuteman III (MMIII) Missile Sustainment project for the U.S. Air Force Inter Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate. Tasking will include project management of products assigned, including resource management, scheduling, and quality assurance of products. Work directly with vendors and manufacturers of mechanical systems, custom fabrications, and assemblies to ensure on time and sufficient deliverables. Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently with changing deadlines and priorities. Interact directly with customers to extract requirements, generate a plan, and report status. Responsible for leading multi-disciplined team of engineers, logisticians, and technicians to ensure program objectives are met. Review drawings and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide feedback. Candidate shall be responsible for ensuring that technical and programmatic issues associated with the effective execution of the program are resolved. Candidate shall be responsible for reviewing and interpreting technical requirements, developing, and defending the program budget, and ensuring project execution. Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and five (5) years or more experience. Experience with engineering design, modeling, and drawing development in SolidWorks and/or CREO. Experience creating technical data package quality drawings using GD&T and other technical processing requirements. Experience creating Build of Materials (BOMs) for projects. Knowledge of systems engineering and integration principles such as requirements definition, verification and validation testing, interface control documents (ICDs) and systems engineering management plans (SEMP). Interim secret clearance required to start with ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process. Candidate must be a US Citizen.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Project management experience with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
