Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Thermal Spray / PTA Welding Engineer designs, develops, and calibrates thermal spray (HVOF, High Velocity Oxy-Fuel) and PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc) welding process equipment and processes to ensure the integrity, safety, and efficiency of our thermal spray coating and PTA welding systems.
Essential Functions:
  • Be the thermal spray and PTA welding expert for the Jetkote and Starweld systems
  • Assist in Construction, assembly, troubleshooting, repair, calibration and runoff of Jetkote HVOF thermal spray and Starweld PTA welding systems.
  • Construct electrical control panels, load PLC programs and debug as needed.
  • Calibrate mass flow controllers using manufacturers application software.
  • Assist with setup, calibrate, runoff and tear down systems for shipment.
  • Work with our engineering department to implement updates and design changes to mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Be the point of contact for customers with coating and welding equipment issues
  • Maintain user manuals and documentation using MS word.
  • Must follow safety procedures, recommended practices and comply with plant safety programs, and be able to work safely with combustible gases such as Hydrogen and Propylene.
  • Possibility of limited travel to customers site to perform trouble shooting, training and calibrations.
  • Assist in the development of thermal spray coatings and Weld overlays
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling up to 33 lbs.
  • Flexibility to take on supplementary tasks aligned with the position's scope.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field.
  • Five years of experience with either HVOF coating or PTA/laser welding.
  • OMRON / Siemens PLC programming a plus.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and gas flows.
  • Five years of experience with thermal spray coating and/or PTA/ Weld overlays
  • Ability to read and comprehend schematics and vendor equipment manuals.
  • Construct control panels, multimeter utilization, three-phase and single-phase systems, soldering, and power tool usage capability.
  • PLC & Ladder Logic programming and troubleshooting a plus.
  • Ability to communicate technical information with cross-functional teams.
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling up to 33 lbs.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Have or obtain a Passport. Minimal travel required.
  • Hours outside of 1st shift may be necessary.
