Mechanical Design Engineer Pay Rate:
40-48 per hour On site West Lafayette Indiana 47906 12 month contract to start The Mechanical Design Engineer works in project teams to provide a broad range of mechanical engineering expertise designing complex analytical instrumentation systems and components for field application of scientific analytical equipment. The candidate will be responsible for all mechanical designs including packaging, machined, and fabricated components for vacuum and inlet assemblies, electronic enclosures, and mounting systems. This position includes involvement in prototyping and interfacing with scientific and manufacturing teams. Responsibilities include planning and tracking your own work schedules. Detailed Description:
Product Development (CAD Design) Rapid Prototyping (additive and non-additive) Test fixture development Documentation including drawings, build procedures, test procedures, etc. Requirements:
BSME/MSME
preferred from an accredited institution Minimum 3 years relevant experience in mechanical design and product development Experience with SolidWorks Experience with SolidWorks EPDM or other PDM tools a plus Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) practices Experience directing and working with Industrial Designers a plus Working knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly design Knowledge of machining practices and what parts can/cannot be created in a machine shop Knowledge of sheet metal design practices including strength and tolerancing salary: $40 - $48 per hourshift: Firstwork hours: 8 AM - 5 PMeducation:
BachelorsResponsibilities BSME/MSME
preferred from an accredited institution Minimum 3 years relevant experience in mechanical design and product development Experience with SolidWorks Experience with SolidWorks EPDM or other PDM tools a plus Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) practices Experience directing and working with Industrial Designers a plus Working knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly design Knowledge of machining practices and what parts can/cannot be created in a machine shop Knowledge of sheet metal design practices including strength and tolerancing Knowledge of injection molding practices to include draft angles, texture, materials, etc. a plus Interface with suppliers during product development to expedite and coordinate part deliveries and resolve design issues with suppliers Provide ongoing engineering support for production instruments Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven analytical and problem-solving skills High energy, proactive orientation; comfortable in a dynamic, entrepreneurial atmosphere Practical/hands on experience with assembly of electro-mechanical components and systems Some travel to customer sites and to test ranges may be required US Citizenship Required SkillsSolidworks (3 years of experience is required)Mechanical Design (3 years of experience is required)Product Development (3 years of experience is required)QualificationsYears of experience: 3 yearsExperience level: ExperiencedRandstad is a world leader in matching great people with great companies.
