We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join a multi-discipline civil, electrical, and mechanical design team supporting the development and implementation of modular infrastructure solutions across the Data Center, Utility, Fiber, and Telmunications sectors. This entry-level role focuses on supporting mechanical design activities including HVAC system design, piping and fluid systems, metalponent design, material selection, and basic dynamic/structural analysis. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with senior engineers, designers, and cross-functional partners to develop cost-effective, manufacturable, and reliable mechanical systems for modular products and integrated equipment solutions.
Essential Duties:
Technical Competencies
Mechanical System Design:
Foundational understanding of HVAC systems, airflow modeling, fluid mechanics, and thermal performance.
Piping & Fluid Systems:
Ability to assist with routing, sizing, and specifying piping, pumps, valves, and associatedponents.
Fabrication & Metal Forming:
Familiarity with sheet metal design, weldments, machining, and general fabrication practices.
Materials Engineering:
Basic knowledge of material properties, corrosion considerations, and selection for environmental and structural suitability.
Dynamic Analysis:
Exposure to vibration, loading, fatigue, and mechanical stress analysis concepts (FEA familiarity is a plus).
Control Systems Awareness:
Basic understanding of controlponents (sensors, actuators, dampers, VFDs) and how they integrate with mechanical systems.
CAD & Drafting:
Ability to read, interpret, and generate mechanical drawings, models, and specifications in collaboration with drafting teams.
Manufacturing Support:
Understanding of manufacturability, tolerancing, assembly constraints, and quality considerations.
Professional Competencies
Analytical Problem-Solving:
Applies engineering principles to troubleshoot design and performance issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Works effectively with civil, electrical, structural, and manufacturing teams.
Communication:
Produces clear documentation, drawing markups, and technical reports with guidance.
Attention to Detail:
Ensures accuracy in calculations, drawings, andponent selection.
Learning Mindset:
Demonstrates curiosity, initiative, and the desire to grow technical and industry knowledge.
Design & Engineering Support
Assist in the design and development of HVAC systems, mechanical layouts, ductwork, and airflow paths for modular infrastructure.
Contribute to piping and fluid system designs including line sizing, ponent selection, and routing planning.
Support sheet metalponent design, structural framing concepts, and modular enclosure mechanical interfaces.
Perform basic engineering calculations including heat loads, pressure drops, equipment sizing, and material strength checks.
Participate in dynamic analysis activities such as vibration evaluation, fatigue considerations, and mechanical stability checks.
Drafting, Modeling & Documentation
Collaborate with drafters and senior engineers to produce mechanical drawings, 3D models, and BOMs.
Generate markups, redlines, and revision updates for design packages.
Ensure designs follow internal standards, industry codes, and project specifications.
Project & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with engineers across civil, structural, and electrical disciplines to ensure coordinated designs.
Support manufacturing and assembly teams by responding to design questions, updating drawings, and resolving production issues.
