Job Description

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer that will be a highly technical, independent contributor who serves as a trusted engineering authority for PMEP's mechanical systems. This role provides leadership in system design, technical review, and problem-solving across projects, acting as a key resource for operations, preconstruction, and leadership. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is expected to lead, review, and make engineering decisions independently and serve as a "go-to" technical partner for complex mechanical challenges. Mechanical Engineering Leadership Lead the engineering and technical execution of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and related building systems. Provide independent engineering judgment on system design, constructability, performance, and code compliance. Serve as a technical authority supporting project teams through design, coordination, installation, and closeout. Review mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and constructability Design Review and Problem Solving Evaluate complex mechanical designs and propose solutions to improve efficiency, performance, and constructability. Identify design conflicts, technical risks, and system constraints early and recommend corrective actions. Support value engineering and alternative system evaluations while maintaining performance and quality standards. Resolve field and design issues through sound engineering analysis and collaboration. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with preconstruction, project management, field leadership, and fabrication teams. Support estimating and preconstruction efforts with technical input, system narratives, and design clarification. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure alignment and integration of mechanical systems. Serve as a technical liaison between PMEP leadership and project teams Quality and Continuous Improvement Establish and uphold engineering standards, best practices, and documentation guidelines. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement of PMEP's engineering processes, tools, and system approaches. Mentor and support developing engineers and technical staff as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. 8-10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering within construction, design-build, or MEP contracting environments. Advanced, hands-on expertise in HVAC and mechanical system design and analysis. Proven ability to lead, review, and make independent engineering decisions. Strong understanding of codes, standards, and regulations applicable to mechanical systems. Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and technical review skills. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities. Pay:
$115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
