Job Description

Mechanical Designer Location New Orleans, LA Job Category Manufacturing & Production Division Laitram Machinery We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer with extensive experience in SolidWorks and PDM systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for updating and releasing equipment designs to the shop, working closely with our engineering team to ensure all designs meet our standards and requirements. For over 70 years, Laitram Machinery has pioneered the manufacturing of high-performance shrimp-peeling equipment, and more recently, steam cookers, blanchers, nut pasteurizers, roasters, and sorters. Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize SolidWorks to create, update, and release equipment designs.
  • Manage design files using PDM systems, specifically EPDM.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to understand project requirements and deliverables.
  • Conduct independent work on design projects, with periodic team reviews to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Present design work to the team and incorporate feedback.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to company standards and specifications.
Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on SolidWorks.
  • Experience with PDM systems, preferably EPDM.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Sheet metal designing experience
Work Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday, 8-hour days.
  • Core hours between 9 AM and 2 PM, with flexibility for start and end times.
