Engineering Reports To:
Director of Engineering Position Summary The Lead Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, repair, maintenance, and preventive care of all mechanical systems, infrastructure, equipment, and resort vehicles across the property. This position plays a key leadership role within the Engineering Department and ensures that all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in a manner that supports an exceptional guest experience. This role requires strong hands-on technical knowledge, leadership ability, and the flexibility to respond to urgent operational needs in a resort environment. Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical & Building Systems
  • Maintain and repair HVAC systems including rooftop units, split systems, PTACs, boilers, chillers, pumps, exhaust systems, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing systems including leaks, water heaters, pumps, irrigation lines, drains, sewer systems, and fixtures.
  • Perform electrical maintenance including lighting, panels, breakers, outlets, motors, controls, low-voltage systems, and emergency systems.
  • Maintain fire/life safety equipment in coordination with vendors and inspectors. Preventive Maintenance
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and systems.
  • Maintain logs for inspections, repairs, filter changes, lubrication, and seasonal readiness.
  • Identify potential failures before breakdowns occur. Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance
  • Oversee maintenance of resort vehicles, trucks, vans, and Shuttles Bus.
  • Coordinate oil changes, brakes, tires, batteries, tune-ups, inspections, and repairs. Leadership & Team Oversight
  • Supervise mechanics, maintenance technicians, and outside contractors as assigned.
  • Delegate daily work orders and project tasks.
  • Train staff on proper procedures, safety practices, and troubleshooting techniques. Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain OSHA-safe work practices.
  • Ensure lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
  • Support local, state, and brand inspections. Budget & Inventory
  • Track inventory of parts, tools, filters, belts, plumbing supplies, and maintenance materials.
  • Recommend cost-saving measures and capital improvements.
  • Assist Director of Engineering with budgeting and vendor proposals. Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in mechanical maintenance, facilities, or hospitality engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pumps, motors, and building systems.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins as needed. Preferred Certifications
  • EPA Certification
  • HVAC License
  • Hoisting License
OSHA 10/30
Summary This is a hands-on leadership position for a highly capable mechanic who can solve problems, manage people, and keep a resort operating at a high level every day.
Pay:
$40.00 per hour
