Manta seeks a creative Senior Mechanical Engineer with a background developing products in the robotics, medical device, consumer, or other related industries. Senior Mechanical Engineers at Manta are responsible for managing and actively participating in all aspects of engineering product development programs from concept brainstorming through transfer to manufacturing. Manta emphasizes client relationships, innovation and service. The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, a proven track record of innovative electro-mechanical development, and is self-motivated to push for engineering excellence. This is a full-time, in-person role based out of our offices in Cambridge, MA, with the potential for frequent travel to local client sites.Responsibilities:
Take the lead mechanical role on multiple projects, coordinate engineering team resources and act as a point contact for Manta clients. Personally execute mechanical design activities as required (CAD, engineering analysis, documentation). Drive engineering excellence in all aspects of our service. Work effectively with multi-disciplinary design teams to ensure integration of all stakeholder inputs. Think creatively and analytically to develop comprehensive design solutions. Understand and document project requirements, anticipate development challenges and manage engineering resources to deliver robust solutions on schedule and budget. Take ownership of designs and outputs, working proactively to ensure thoroughness of deliverables. Manage regulatory documentation in compliance with Manta's quality system and industry standards, as needed. Adhere to disciplined design processes using design controls, FMEA, rapid prototyping and design reviews. Work with Manta management to prepare project plans and coordinate project management activities. Assist in mentorship and training of less experienced engineers. Be a positive role model.Qualifications:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required; advanced technical degree a plus 8-15+ years practicing mechanical design Advanced surfacing and master model techniques in SolidWorks required Robotics and/or medical device experience preferred Experience with all major manufacturing production processes, including plastic and metal fabrication methods Experience working through complete concept-to-manufacturing development cycles Strong technical and analytical skills including FEA and/or CFD Experience with 2D drawings, tolerance analysis, and GD&T Electro-mechanical design experience - motors, actuators, drive trains, bearings Experience working in compliance with ISO13485 andFDA QMSR
