Holyoke, MA Job Details $90,000 - $115,000 a year 14 hours ago Qualifications Data Center Operations Data center experience Vendor management Energy management Supervising experience Computer networking Blueprint reading Electrical maintenance Maintenance management Full Job Description Lead Mechanical Engineer Job Summary Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, the Lead Mechanical Engineer will work closely with the facilities maintenance staff and outside vendors to ensure the efficient operation of the building's mechanical systems. This role is responsible for operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, and managing the computerized building management system and associated subsystems. Team Skills The MGHPC operates with a small staff, making teamwork essential to this role.The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey ideas and actively listen to others Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with teammates to achieve shared goals Adaptability and a positive approach to changing priorities and team dynamics Reliability, accountability, and commitment to team responsibilities Professionalism, empathy, and respect that foster a positive and inclusive work environment Essential Functions & Responsibilities Ensure the proper operation of all mechanical building equipment and systems Recommend necessary parts and supplies for maintenance work and spare inventory Maintain accurate records for mechanical work performed within the building Coordinate with vendors to support ongoing HVAC preventive maintenance programs Monitor and maintain building management and data acquisition systems Maintain sequences of operation (SOO) and preventive maintenance procedures for all mechanical equipment Participate in planning and managing construction activities Assist in scheduling work orders, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities Troubleshoot and test mechanical equipment to identify malfunctions or causes of breakdowns Repair or replace faulty parts, subassemblies, and major components, then re-test equipment to ensure proper operation Install, repair, adjust, service, and maintain low-voltage electrical control systems used for HVAC and refrigeration systems, including calibration of related instruments, gauges, and controls Perform additional related duties as assigned Requirements Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education & Experience Graduate of a technical or trade school Minimum of five (5) years of experience within the past ten (10) years performing mechanical and electrical maintenance Ability to read blueprints and control sequences with a strong understanding of applicable codes and regulations Experience supervising and coordinating mechanical contractors Familiarity with building management systems in facilities of similar size and scope Experience with Energy Management Systems (EMS) and related software programs Understanding of information technologies related to data center operations, including networking, cabling, and equipment best practices Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required Preferred Certifications/Licenses Electrical and/or HVAC License Working Conditions & Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
