Job Description

Job Title:
Lead Engineer Job Description We are seeking a proactive and decisive Lead Engineer to join our team. This role involves reporting to the Director of Nuclear Engineering Consulting while supporting the Project Manager and Materials Engineering Laboratory Manager. You will act as the project lead for both small and mid-sized projects. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of determining project goals, identifying success paths, and proactively solving potential problems to ensure successful project outcomes. Responsibilities Research and prepare calculations using input data provided by the client. Develop and refine detailed engineering design solutions to prepare plant design changes, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards. Implement on-site modifications to ensure alignment with project standards. Conduct failure analysis of pressure vessel and piping components to determine apparent causes. Identify system configuration improvements considering thermal, flow, stress, and fatigue considerations. Reconcile piping and component degradation and suggest improvements based on sound engineering evaluations. Manage both mechanical and civil projects effectively. Support engineering evaluations of piping and support geometry issues. Maintain timely communications and manage client interface requests. Essential Skills Experience with nuclear reactor systems and mechanical engineering. Proficiency in FEA analysis and understanding of ASME standards. Ability to write proposals and develop financial plans. Experience in reviewing and quality checking reports. Strong understanding of project success mapping and deliverables. Professional Engineering (PE/PEng) license in any US state or Canadian province. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, with a preference for Mechanical. Project Management experience with teams of 5 or fewer engineers. MS or MBA is considered an asset. Knowledge and experience with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and/or American Institute of Steel Construction. Direct utility experience with BWR and/or PWR systems. Ability to travel and provide site support. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with root cause failure analysis. Familiarity with metallurgical evaluation methods. Strong computer skills (e.g., MS Office, AutoCAD, AutoPIPE). Strong technical and report writing skills. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Milford, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $135000.00•$165000.00/yr.
