Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the modeling, design, and fabrication of semiconductor automated test fixtures and handler kits in support of the Test Engineering Team. This role also provides ongoing sustaining engineering support to the Manufacturing Organization, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective production solutions. Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for semiconductor automated test fixtures and handler kitsCreate 3D models, detailed drawings, and documentation using CAD toolsEnsure designs meet functional, reliability, manufacturability, and cost requirementsCollaborate with Test Engineers to translate electrical and test requirements into mechanical solutionsOversee fabrication, assembly, and validation of prototypes and production hardwareWork with internal shops and external vendors to source materials and componentsSupport fixture bring-up, debug, and qualification activitiesProvide ongoing support for released designs in manufacturingTroubleshoot mechanical issues impacting yield, performance, or throughputImplement design improvements, ECOs (Engineering Change Orders), and cost reduction initiativesSupport root cause analysis and corrective actions for field and production issuesPartner with Test Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teamsCommunicate design intent, requirements, and changes effectively across stakeholdersParticipate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field3+ years of experience in mechanical design (semiconductor automated equipment preferred)Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or similar)Experience designing precision mechanical assemblies and fixturesFamiliarity with semiconductor test equipment, handlers, or similar automation systemsKnowledge of materials, tolerancing (GD&T), and manufacturing processes (CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing, etc.)Strong analytical and troubleshooting skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environmentHands-on approach with a willingness to work in lab and manufacturing settingsExperience with thermal management and high-precision alignment systemsExposure to high-volume manufacturing environmentsUnderstanding of cost optimization strategies
