Job Description:
Principal Optomechanical Engineer - Boston, MA We're hiring a Principal Optomechanical Engineer to lead the design and integration of precision systems. This is a hands-on role focused on precision mechanical design, system integration, and product execution. You'll own the full life-cycle and technical direction of a product at the intersection industry innovation and the bleeding edge of scientific research. Responsibilities Lead design and integration of precision optomechanical assemblies Drive mechanical design for complex optical systems with tight tolerances Perform tolerance analysis, material selection, and DFM activities Support thermal and structural design considerations affecting optical performance Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across programs Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to transition designs into production Support prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting Requirements 6+ years of optomechanical or precision mechanical engineering experience Strong background in precision mechanical design for optical or photonic systems Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and precision alignment Prior technical leadership or project ownership experience Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX Thermal analysis/modeling experience is a plus Preferred Experience with lasers, imaging systems, photonics, aerospace, defense, or semiconductor systems Familiarity with FEA, vibration/shock analysis, and environmental testing Prototype and manufacturing experience Join a team building advanced hardware systems with real technical ownership and impact.
