Description:
We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of innovative products and systems used in advanced scientific and precision manufacturing applications. This is a highly visible role responsible for driving projects from concept through production while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, reliable, and manufacturable solutions. This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, leading product development initiatives, and working in a specialized environment where precision, innovation, and continuous improvement are critical to success. Key Responsibilities Lead new product development programs from concept, feasibility, and design through validation and production release Design mechanical systems, tooling, fixtures, and equipment for precision applications Develop detailed engineering models, drawings, and documentation using CAD software Select appropriate materials, components, and manufacturing processes Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and performance-based engineering principles Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and verification/validation activities Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Process Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure successful product industrialization Manage multiple engineering projects, schedules, and technical priorities Maintain engineering documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), and document control requirements Support troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and corrective action initiatives Drive innovation through continuous improvement and the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline 5-10+ years of mechanical design engineering experience Proven experience leading product development projects from concept through production Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills Extensive knowledge of machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes Advanced CAD proficiency Experience with Autodesk Inventor or willingness to complete Inventor training Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) Ability to balance theoretical engineering concepts with practical implementation Preferred Experience Experience working in precision manufacturing, scientific instrumentation, optics, photonics, or other highly technical environments Knowledge of advanced materials and precision mechanical assemblies Experience optimizing designs for reliability, performance, and manufacturability What Success Looks Like Within your first 6-12 months, you will: Successfully lead new product development programs from concept through production release Deliver designs that meet performance, cost, quality, and manufacturability objectives Reduce design iteration cycles through robust engineering analysis and validation Build strong partnerships across engineering and manufacturing teams Improve product performance and reliability through design enhancements Introduce innovative engineering or manufacturing solutions that create measurable business value Why Apply?
