Job Description

Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a Product Engineer - Equipment role in Biddeford, ME. Our client is a well-established industry leader known for innovation and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineered products and equipment solutions. With a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence, they pride themselves on developing reliable equipment systems that support manufacturing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and improve production equipment and mechanical systems to support manufacturing operations and product performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and supply chain to identify equipment needs and implement engineering solutions. Troubleshoot equipment issues, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve reliability. Support equipment installation, testing, validation, and commissioning activities. Create and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, SOPs, and maintenance procedures. Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and recommend improvements focused on efficiency, safety, quality, and cost reduction. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding equipment specifications, procurement, and technical support. Ensure compliance with safety standards, engineering best practices, and company policies throughout all project phases. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support lean manufacturing efforts. Provide technical guidance and training to production and maintenance teams as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in equipment engineering, manufacturing engineering, or product engineering preferred. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, production equipment, and manufacturing processes. Experience with CAD software and engineering documentation preferred. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across departments. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Knowledge of safety standards, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
