Job Requirements portsmouth naval shipyard, ME Secret Polygraph Unspecified Career Level not specified Salary not specified Join Premium to unlock estimated salaries Job Description Duties Help You will perform design analysis and calculations for mechanical projects and prepare final detailed working drawings, comparative cost analysis, and project specifications. You will prepare and negotiate architect and engineering (A/E) service contracts. You will review engineering drawings prepared by A/Es for completeness, sound engineering practice, and compliance with federal and local standards. You will review contractor's submittals, shop drawings, and samples of materials and components to ensure that they conform to contract requirements. You will manage design and construction projects to promptly identify and resolve issues while ensuring the structure, systems, functions and performance adhere to pre-established standards and requirements. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications In addition to the Basic Education requirement, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Producing mechanical engineering facility design packages, including design drawings, plans, specifications and design-build requests for proposal; 2) Using Computer-aided Design (CAD) and energy modeling software (e.g. Whole Building Design Guide, Microsoft Office, mechanical engineering design, analysis software, AutoCAD) to produce proposed designs and results of studies; AND 3) Reviewing mechanical engineering design submittals for facilities to provide subject matter expert acceptance recommendations to officials. Qualifications Standards Manual:
A.Degree:
Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT)1 , or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)2 examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. 3. Specified academic courses
- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A.
