At The Pond Guy, this Mechanical Engineer position is a product development role focused on designing and launching physical products, not just supporting designs or reviewing drawings. You will own mechanical designs from concept through production, working in a fast-paced environment where ideas quickly turn into prototypes and real-world products. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving practical engineering problems and seeing their work move from design to build to production. You'll work closely with Production and Quality to ensure designs are not only functional, but also manufacturable, cost-effective, and ready for scale. You will also see your designs quickly move from CAD to real, working products used by customers. This is a build-focused environment where engineers are actively involved in turning ideas into real, working products quickly. Here's what that looks like day-to-day: Own multiple product development projects, leading designs from concept through prototype, testing, and production launch Serve as technical lead for assigned projects, ensuring strong design execution, manufacturability (DFMA), and productionreadiness Design mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks, ensuring performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost targets are met Lead and facilitate design reviews,ensuringdesign alignmentqualityandproductrequirements Build and iterate prototypes usingin-house 3D printing and CNC machining, performing testing and validation through structured plans and real-world evaluation Drive continuous improvement by solving designrelated issues, using structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to optimize product performance, quality, and cost Provideengineering and technical support acrossall salesdivisions Demonstrateownership,curiosity, and persistence while benchmarking competitive products and identifying opportunities for product or process innovation Don't know about ponds? Job Requirements To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills: Engineering bachelor'sdegree:mechanical engineeringpreferred Proven experienceapplyingmechanical engineering principles,knowledge of materialsscience,thermodynamics,manufacturing processes, and tools in product engineering Minimum of 3+ years of experience in productdesign/development within an engineering discipline Experience creating and defining performance requirements on engineering drawings Solidunderstanding ofGD&T Proficiency in SolidWorksand/orsimilar3D-modeling software Inquisitive mindset with a passion for exploring new ideas and approaches Demonstrated ability tobuild strong connections by seeking input and fostering open dialogue Creative thinking and persistence in finding solutions to complex problems Experience withvariousmanufacturing processes such as machining, casting, metal forming,injection molding, welding/joining, extrusion, etc. Because this role includes a mix of office and field work, candidates must be comfortable in both environments. Requirements include the ability to swim, strong manual dexterity, and the ability to perform repetitive motions. The role involves bending, standing, and stooping for extended periods, as well as sitting and working at a computer for prolonged periods. It also includes regularly lifting 25 to 50 pounds and assisting with items up to 150 pounds. We need a Mechanical Engineer who has a positive attitude, and the words "can't" and "impossible" are not a part of your vocabulary. We need someone resourceful and ready to get things done. Availability The regular schedule is 8 hours per day between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Occasionally, projects may require evening or weekend hours.
