In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex vehicle design and physical production by identifying, estimating, and designing the specialized automation and tooling required for world-class vehicle assembly. Key Responsibilities Your primary focus will be the end-to-end development of assembly solutions, from conceptual layout to final cost mitigation.
Tooling Identification:
Define the requirements for automation, manipulators, and specialized tooling for critical vehicle subsystems, including: Decking Systems (Powertrain Integration) Windshield & Glass Installation Sunroof / Panoramic Roof modules Instrument Panels (IP) and Front End Modules (FEM)
Cost Estimation:
Develop comprehensive estimates encompassing time, material costs, and labor requirements for all proposed systems.
Technical Analysis:
Conduct deep-dive reviews of 3D models and engineering drawings to validate manufacturing feasibility and assembly sequences.
Risk & Cost Mitigation:
Proactively identify technical risks and installation hurdles. You will be responsible for developing contingency plans and finding creative opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality.
Layout Development:
Create and iterate on conceptual system layouts using AutoCAD to optimize floor space and workflow efficiency. Qualifications & Skills The ideal candidate combines technical "know-how" with the business acumen to meet tight deadlines.
Experience:
Typically 5+ years in automotive assembly with specific expertise in General Assembly (GA) tooling and automation systems.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (B.S.M.E.) or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
Software Proficiency:
Strong background in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, or CATIA) and advanced Excel modeling.
Manufacturing Knowledge:
Deep understanding of automated assembly, robotics, manipulators, and manufacturing workflows.
Business Acumen:
Proven ability to translate highly technical engineering specifications into competitive estimates under strict deadlines.
Work Authorization:
Ability to work for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
