Job Description

What to Expect The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will Contribute to the development and fabrication of metal stamping dies. Independently supporting all phases of tooling development, creating and maintaining 2D and 3D stamping processes, contributing to simulation development, performing detail design, presenting their work in project reviews in support of the tool build processes. The candidate will also provide cross functional support and collaboration to other departments within Tesla as needed to ensure project success and to share stamping principles and expertise to new areas and teams.

What You'll Do Simulation and Manufacturability reviews of product dataIndependently Execute Tooling Design delivering planned functionCreate 2D and 3D tooling process via participation in the simulations process, modeling, and die function planningUtilize tooling process developments to design optimized toolsDevelop surfaces from simulation and process Documents to design stamping toolsEnsure Global Standards are followed and met throughout design processAs needed, lead other engineers to complete project milestonesImplement Engineering changes to existing tools by planning and executing design updatesConstantly strive for continuous improvement in all phases of tooling projectsSupport tooling projects through reviews, build and tryout, providing schedule feedback along the way to ensure on budget and on time completion What You'll Bring Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience8+ years of tooling experiences or relatedExperience with Catia V5/V6Ability to work with, and lead others within a collaborative team environmentProficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, ProjectExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMust be flexible and able to stay open-minded to environment at TeslaCompensation and BenefitsBenefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:
