Design Release Engineer - Exterior Lighting Position Summary The Project Engineer will be responsible for the design and release engineering of exterior lighting components. This role supports both new product development and current product improvements for EV and ICE vehicle programs. The engineer will manage component design and development activities while collaborating cross-functionally with studio teams, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, suppliers, and program management teams. The role includes ownership of part release activities, milestone execution, issue resolution, and leadership of Product Development Teams (PDTs). Key Responsibilities Lead design and release activities for exterior lighting systems including headlamps, tail lamps, and small lamps. Manage component development from concept through production launch. Create and maintain CAD/math data and packaging using NX and Teamcenter. Develop and maintain engineering documentation including SOR, SOW, ICD, DFMEA, DVP&R, drawings, and BOMs. Conduct design reviews, supplier meetings, and PDT meetings. Lead root cause analysis and issue resolution related to warranty, manufacturing, and assembly concerns. Drive quality improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and design optimization efforts. Support benchmarking and technology reviews for future lighting innovations. Collaborate closely with validation, manufacturing, purchasing, quality teams, and suppliers. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline. Minimum 2+ years of experience in exterior lighting engineering or injection-molded plastic part design. Strong experience with NX, Teamcenter/Unigraphics, vehicle integration, and design trade-offs. Working knowledge of SOR, ICD, DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, and drawing/BOM creation. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of global exterior lighting regulations and installation criteria. Experience working with global suppliers. Full program execution experience from concept through launch. Experience with lit mechanizations, feature communication graphics, and day/night architecture reviews. Master's Degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred. Top Required Skills Product Development Team Leadership - Experience leading cross-functional engineering and supplier meetings. Exterior Lighting or Injection-Molded Plastic Design - Strong understanding of performance, manufacturing, and integration constraints. Structured Engineering & Requirements Management - Practical application of DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, drawings, and BOM processes. Work Environment Daily collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, validation, quality teams, and suppliers.
