The Role The Driveline Performance Development Engineer verifies vehicle performance against requirements and leads the analysis, development, and control of driveline systems. The role requires strong independent judgment, creativity, and initiative to solve complex engineering challenges and advance vehicle performance. Operating with broad direction from the group manager, the engineer develops technical solutions, evaluates system performance, and ensures alignment with overall vehicle objectives while collaborating cross‑functionally to support integration, testing, and validation. What You Will Do (Responsibilities) Support chassis and driveline vehicle development testing at Milford Proving Grounds. Lead Torque Transfer system integration to optimize vehicle performance within driveline hardware capability, partnering with Program, Chassis Controls, and Propulsion teams. Develop and execute vehicle and system test plans, including instrumentation, data collection, and analysis. Own driveline calibration development, diagnostics, and issue resolution across vehicle, dyno, and test fleet environments. Evaluate driveline and AWD performance (traction, handling, torque load, NVH) as the Voice of the Customer. Collaborate cross‑functionally to integrate driveline hardware, software, controls, and mechatronics. Communicate test results and recommendations clearly to drive engineering decisions. Adapt plans in ambiguous environments, solving complex problems with limited upfront information. Maintain technical documentation, lessons learned, and continuously improve test methods and best practices. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Physics, IT, Chemistry or other relevant degree 5 years of relevant engineering experience Strong foundation in engineering principles and system-level design Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities independently and collaboratively High analytical capability for complex, non‑routine problems Solid system integration understanding and cross‑functional collaboration skills Effective interpersonal skills across global teams Familiarity with manufacturing processes and project management fundamentals Working knowledge of engineering specifications, release systems, and Global VDP Proficiency with relevant engineering tools, including UG and TcVis Mockup What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Driveline system/component engineering experience Experience in component design (ground up design work/GD&T/FEA etc.) Previous experience involving integration work with GM Platform teams Experience working with suppliers Creative skills with the willingness to take managed risks DFSS Certification #
