Ability to manage projects from concept through build and launch Excellent communication skills with both internal teams and external vendors Position Overview We are seeking a highly capable Senior Mechanical/Design Engineer to lead the design and development of custom mechanical equipment and tooling. This role requires a practical, hands-on engineer who can balance performance, cost, manufacturability, and user experience while driving projects from concept through production. Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering Design and develop custom tooling and mechanical equipment to meet customer requirements Create detailed 3D CAD models and production-ready drawings aligned with industry standards Ensure designs account for safety, ergonomics, cycle time, durability, and ease of maintenance Apply engineering principles including statics, dynamics, and strength of materials Project Ownership & Execution Lead projects from concept through design, build, and run-off Develop detailed project quotations including cost, timelines, labor, and production rates Source and evaluate components; define scope of work and manage procurement activities Collaboration & Vendor Management Coordinate with internal teams and external design/build partners Visit suppliers as needed to ensure timelines, quality, and project alignment Direct fabrication, installation, and troubleshooting of tooling and equipment Documentation & Training Establish operating procedures, safety standards, and preventive maintenance guidelines Support development of work instructions and training materials Train end users on proper operation and safety protocols Technical Expertise Machine design and tooling development Pneumatics, hydraulics, and fluid systems Metallurgy, heat treating, and coatings Fits, tolerances, and finishes Manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM) Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred Equivalent hands-on experience will be considered Core Competencies Performance-driven with strong ownership mentality Customer-focused problem solver Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator Innovative with a commitment to safety and sustainability Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs occasionally Frequent standing, walking, and use of tools and computer equipment Occasional bending, climbing stairs, and other physical movement as needed This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-impact mechanical solutions while working across design, manufacturing, and operations in a fast-paced environment.Similar remote jobs
