Job Description

We are seeking an R D Lasers and Optics Engineer in our Brooklyn Park, MN, Location. We are seeking a R D Optics Engineer to join our team in Minnesota supporting R D and commercial activities. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of a number of technical disciplines, with deep technical expertise and skills in at least one; a history of working in highly technical teams supporting scientists and engineers; and a strong work ethic and high reliability. All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test. \n
Key Responsibilities:
Work with a team of engineers, physicists, and technicians to advance trapped-ion quantum computing technologies Perform regular maintenance on laser and optical systems Participate in designing, building, testing and alignment of optical systems, including lasers and imaging systems Collaborate with colleagues to provide technical expertise and support on planning, development, maintenance, and management of a new and existing optical and laser systems Prepare detailed engineering specifications, standard operating procedures, and other documentation required for the operation, maintenance, and repair of optical, mechanical, and electronics systems Support Procurement and Materials Management in acquiring and tracking technical equipment and infrastructure through phases of building, expanding, and maintaining the lab
YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor's degree minimum Minimum 1+ years hands-on work or apprentice experience in optics or lasers Minimum 2+ years' experience working in a technical environment such as laboratory, clean room, or similar Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE
Masters degree in optics, engineering, instrumentation, physics, or related 3+ years in an optics lab environment Hands-on skills building and testing optical systems and an understanding of underlying principles of optics, such as lasers, free-space optics, fiber optics, imaging systems, etc. Experience building experimental apparatus from scratch Experience following work instructions, drawings, and test protocols Experience with Python, CAD, or optical modeling Highly organized and attention to detail on both administrative and technical tasks Highly motivated individuals excited to learn and apply a broad range of technical skills The ability to work from assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, sketches and other written, visual and oral instructions Excellent written and verbal communication skills \n $80,000 - $101,000 a year
Compensation & Benefits:
Non-Incentive Eligible The pay range for this role is $80,000 - $101,000 annually.
