Test Engineer Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Electro-Mechanical Test Engineer / Test Technician to support product qualification and validation across mechanical and electrical systems. This role is responsible for executing and documenting comprehensive testing activities, including environmental, electrical systems, power, and EMI testing. The position combines lab-based hands-on work with detailed technical documentation and reporting. Key Responsibilities + Perform full lifecycle product qualification, including: + Test requirement definition + Test planning and test plan development + Test procedure development + Test execution and data collection + Test report generation and final qualification approval + Conduct electro-mechanical testing, including: + Environmental testing + Electrical systems and power testing + EMI/EMC testing + Execute testing on: + Mechanical structures + Electrical components, connectors, and wiring/cabling (power, Ethernet, and fiber optics) + Perform hands-on lab work (approximately 50%), including: + Setting up and executing tests + Troubleshooting issues, including opening cabinets and investigating failures + Working with power test setups and systems + Develop comprehensive technical documentation (approximately 50%), including: + Test procedures and instructions + Test plans and protocols + Test reports with results, analysis, and pass/fail determinations + Analyze test results, identify failures, and recommend design improvements + Define and select appropriate test equipment required for validation efforts + Develop regression test strategies following design changes + Estimate scope, schedule, and budget for testing activities + Ensure testing aligns with customer requirements and applicable standards + Support continuous learning and improvement of testing methodologies Required Qualifications + 1-5+ years of relevant experience in test engineering, validation, or lab-based testing + Experience with electro-mechanical testing environments + Familiarity with: + Electrical systems and power testing + Mechanical testing methodologies + Connectors, wiring, and cabling systems (power, Ethernet, fiber) + Experience using test equipment and executing structured test procedures + Basic software proficiency, including: + Linux environments + Python (basic scripting or automation) + Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting + Strong technical writing and documentation skills Preferred Qualifications + Experience with communications systems, telecom equipment, or rack-based systems + Familiarity with MIL-STD testing standards and defense/aerospace qualification processes + Experience with EMI/EMC testing methodologies + Background in systems engineering or product validation Education + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field + OR + Associate degree with relevant experience (Testing Technician level candidates will be considered) Key Competencies + Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving + Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking + Ability to interpret and validate technical requirements + Effective written and verbal communication skills + Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Burnsville, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
