Job Description
Lead Mechanical Engineer responsible for HVAC and mechanical piping system design, client coordination, code-compliant construction document delivery, and supervision of design staff. Job Requirements 7-9 years of mechanical engineering experience Minimum 2 years of lead or supervisory experience Experience leading design teams in direct partnership with clients and design professionals Proficiency with Revit Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu Experience with cloud-based design platforms including BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud Strong experience with HVAC and mechanical piping systems design, including: System comparative analysis and selection Packaged equipment Pumps and hydronic systems Knowledge of Minnesota Mechanical and Energy Codes Knowledge of ASHRAE publications and standards, including 90.1 and 62.1 Experience performing HVAC load calculations and using related tools, including: Excel-based calculation spreadsheets Trane Trace 700 HAP IES VE Ability to perform field visits and meet with construction teams and clients regarding projects Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, and Teams Preferred Skills Mechanical PE license Active EIT pursuing PE licensure Working knowledge of: Minnesota fire and NFPA codes Building and mechanical codes Plumbing codes and systems Model codes and codes for other states SMACNA standards VRF systems Refrigeration systems Controls and schematics Construction methods Experience coordinating with owners, architects, and trade contractors Experience collaborating with internal construction and project teams Job Responsibilities Lead HVAC and mechanical piping system design for construction projects Sign and seal construction document deliverables for assigned projects when serving as engineer in responsible charge Directly supervise and mentor design staff Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for the team Collaborate with construction project managers to help keep projects on schedule and within budget Lead coordination with external clients, including owners, architects, and trade contractors such as civil, structural, and electrical partners Collaborate with internal teams including project managers, field superintendents, VDC, estimators, and purchasing Perform system comparative analysis and equipment selection for HVAC and hydronic systems Apply Minnesota codes, ASHRAE standards, and related design requirements to project work Perform HVAC load calculations and support development of mechanical system designs Conduct field visits and support project coordination with construction teams and clients
Pay:
