Job Title:
Mechanical Designer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer who is proficient in SolidWorks and eager to join our new product development team. You will be responsible for understanding product requirements and developing innovative solutions. Your role will involve creating part drawings, solid models, and bills of materials, as well as supporting design and drawing reviews. Responsibilities Understand and interpret product requirements to develop viable solutions. Create part drawings, solid models, and bills of materials. Support design and drawing reviews to ensure quality and accuracy. Collaborate with suppliers to produce parts that meet specifications. Prototype and test designs to ensure functionality and reliability. Solve technical problems and maintain subassemblies efficiently. Familiarize with manufacturing processes to enhance design effectiveness. Create accurate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Product and Component Notices (PACNs). Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement. Essential Skills Proficiency in SolidWorks for mechanical design tasks. Experience with engineering change orders and new product development. Knowledge of sheet metal, machine part, and injection mold design. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with injection-molded, plastic-part design. 3D printing experience is highly desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills. Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, self-directed, and organized. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to excel in a highly interactive team environment. Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards. Work Environment This position requires on-site work and is perfect for a candidate who enjoys leaving their desk to engage with the manufacturing floor. You will be part of a collaborative team of nine, working with high-tech equipment within a large organization that partners globally. The environment is dynamic and encourages problem-solving and innovation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Shakopee, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
