Job Description

Junior Mechanical Designer
COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Shorewood Engineering , in business since 1988, is a small but growing family-owned company specializing in the design and manufacturing of high-quality labeling equipment. Our systems are used by Fortune 500 companies and reputable businesses across North America and around the world. Under the supervision of the Operations Management team, the Junior Mechanical Designer will be responsible to lead the engineering team in all day-to-day activities (workflow, task delegation, Bon maintaining, etc). Work closely with all cross-functional teams to provide strong and innovative design solutions to our clients. Provide mentorship and leadership to those working within the engineering team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and develop labeling machine components in compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. Analyze design concepts, assess feasibility, and propose optimized technical solutions. Create, validate, and maintain 3D models ensuring accuracy in geometry, materials, performance, and manufacturability. Produce technical drawings for customer approval and Manage Bills of Materials (BOM), including components, materials, and product specifications. Coordinate with internal teams to define technical requirements and ensure project alignment. Oversee design modifications, validate engineering changes, and ensure proper implementation. Ensure product quality, compliance with specifications, and adherence to engineering standards. Support production by ensuring complete and accurate technical data for manufacturing. Lead project planning activities, including timelines, priorities, and deliverables to ensure on-time execution. Act as a key liaison between engineering, production, suppliers, and stakeholders. Identify project risks and implement corrective actions to ensure smooth execution. Drive continuous improvement of product design and manufacturing processes. Maintain a rigorous follow-up on all engineering initiatives and projects
QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
College or University degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent 2-3 years of experience in a similar field or industry Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, and Microsoft Office In-depth technical knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical technology and concepts AT shorewood, WE
