Job Summary:
Fike Corporation, a global leader in Pressure Relief, Explosion Protection, and Fire Protection solutions, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a highly skilled engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is dedicated to testing industrial safety products across a range of industries, including aerospace, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and oil and gas. As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will lead and coordinate laboratory testing efforts, specify and procure equipment, and execute tests for pressure relief concepts, products, processes, and applications. Primary Responsibilities:
Leads and/or Conducts Design Qualification and Lot Acceptance Testing for Quality, Engineering, Applications and Operations teams
Responsible for design and maintenance of pressure vessels, test fixtures, structures, data acquisition and testing systems including procedural documentation
Possess ASME Authorized Observer accreditation for the Flow laboratory
Understands the full range of current test capabilities and limitations and can independently operate all testing equipment
Maintains knowledge of new and emerging testing technologies
Creates new testing methods, systems and procedures
Actively participates in test planning, execution, data acquisition and analysis
Creates, approves and maintains documentation of testing details including test reports and other lab record
Works with Project Managers to establish project plans, and communicate progress on a regular basis
Participates in and conducts design reviews for development projects
Reviews and researches applicable market accepted standards for specific testing requirements. (ASME, CE, PED, KOSHA, UKCA, ASTM etc.)
Manages and coordinates the completion of technical tasks by outside consultants and vendors including documentation
Travels to various customer facilities and sales outlets when required
Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed
Serves as the laboratory representative on assigned Product Development and Sustaining Engineering teams
Presents testing setup and results to internal and external customers as needed
Adheres to the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administrations Regulations (EAR) and (NOFORN) policies and completes ongoing awareness training, which includes collection, processing and handling, transmission, storage, and general safeguarding practices Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Work will be performed in an office environment, an industrial setting, and/or in indoor and outdoor laboratory environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit, and use hands. Some travel domestically and internationally as required. Occasionally, the employee will be exposed to workplace hazards such as high pressures, high temperatures, electrical hazards, fumes, and chemicals. The noise level in the area is generally moderate with intermittent loud noises during testing. Proper PPE will need to be worn. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for long periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Job Qualifications:
Required:
Must be able to work on CUI, ITAR, EAR and NOFORN designated projects. Bachelor's degree in, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering. Minimum 5 years post degree related experience. Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, concepts, practices and theories. Formal course work in Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics. Have an expert knowledge of data acquisition, and control methods.
Preferred:
Master's degree in a related technical field. Experience or education in the fields of explosion protection, fire protection, pressure relief or other related special hazard protection. Familiarity with numerical analysis methods, (FEA, CFD), National Instruments Corp., LabView® and Autodesk products
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $82,454 to $103,057 per year. May increase depending on the level of experience of the candidate. Working at Fike At Fike, our people are our strength.
