Job Description

Apply Job Type Full-time Description The Lead Mechanical Engineer is a key technical leader responsible for the design and development of complex mechanical systems across product lines, with a strong emphasis on defense applications. This role focuses on engineering robust, and compliant solutions designed to meet customer specifications, military standards and cost targets. This position requires deep mechanical design expertise, leadership in requirements-driven product development, and strong cross-functional collaboration. The Lead Mechanical Engineer owns the translation of customer and regulatory requirements into engineered solutions, ensuring performance, reliability, compliance and manufacturability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems from concept through production.
  • Translate customer requirements and military specifications into engineering solutions.
  • Maintain requirements traceability matrices.
  • Develop CAD models and detailed drawings (SolidWorks).
  • Define materials, coatings, and joining methods for harsh environments.
  • Design sealing systems, isolation systems and other features for environmental protection.
  • Ensure compliance with MIL-STD and other environmental specifications.
  • Support manufacturing and prototype validation testing.
  • Own configuration management and engineering changes.
  • Interface with customers and support design reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Provide technical support to shop floor when required.
  • Develop internal shop drawings when required to meet customer prints.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering and operations from concept through production on new products to ensure success. Requirements
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with requirements-driven design.
  • Detailed CAD modeling and drafting experience.
  • Developing complex parts and assembly drawings.
  • Knowledge of welding, machining, and forming processes.
  • Familiarity with MIL standards and designing to specification preferred.
  • GD&T and DFM knowledge preferred.
  • FEA, thermal, vibration, and tolerance analysis experience preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 4-7 years of experience in mechanical design preferred.
  • Experience with ruggedized or complex mechanical systems.
  • Defense program experience preferred.
  • Experience designing welded and machined components.
  • New product development experience.
