Job Description

Dimensional /Mechanical Engineer - Automotive Manufacturing Major Automotive Manufacturer | Production & Body Shop Environment Shape the quality customers see and feel. We're looking for a Dimensional/Mechanical Engineer to own vehicle fit, finish, and dimensional quality in a high‑volume automotive manufacturing environment. This is a hands‑on, floor‑based engineering role where you'll directly influence how vehicles are built — not just report on issues, but solve them. What You'll Do Own vehicle fit & finish, gap & flush, and dimensional quality from body shop through assembly Use dimensional data and customer quality metrics to identify issues and drive root‑cause fixes Work side‑by‑side with production, maintenance, tooling, and quality teams to resolve build and tooling concerns Support fast‑response problem solving and quality process reviews Ensure metrology and vision systems (CMM, scanning, gap & flush, vision) are accurate and reliable Maintain process controls, tooling adjustments, and dimensional documentation Communicate issues and status clearly across shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment What's In It for You High‑visibility ownership role with real impact on vehicle quality Hands‑on engineering — not a desk‑only position Exposure to advanced metrology, vision systems, and world‑class manufacturing standards Build highly marketable automotive quality and dimensional expertise Strong career growth into senior engineering, quality leadership, or manufacturing roles Essential Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment. Proficiency in CMM, GD&T, and dimensional analysis methodologies. Strong working knowledge of GDIS or similar systems. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or at least 4 years of relevant dimensional/manufacturing experience. Preferred Experience Experience with 3D measurement and scanning technologies such as CMM, ENOS, Perceptron, FARO, and ScanWorks. Exposure to automated systems and robotics is a plus. Work Environment 75% of your time will be spent on the production floor in a fast‑paced, highly automated body shop. 25% will be in an engineering office environment. Required PPE includes safety glasses, high‑visibility vest, and arm protection. You'll be part of a team actively integrating new robotics and upgrading existing automation systems. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
