Onsite | Timberlake, NC Full-Time | Exempt About the Role The CAD Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and detailing mechanical systems, components, and assemblies using CAD software. This role supports manufacturing operations by generating accurate 2D/3D models, improving mechanical designs for manufacturability, collaborating with production teams, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
What You'll Do Mechanical CAD Design & Modeling:
Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design standards. Review and analyze specifications, sketches, and engineering concepts to determine design feasibility and requirements. Update, modify, and revise designs to correct issues or incorporate improvements.
Design Development & Engineering:
Perform mechanical calculations and basic analyses to validate designs and ensure performance. Support prototype creation, testing, and verification activities to confirm manufacturability and functionality. Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate materials, tolerances, and mechanical performance.
Manufacturing Collaboration:
Work with manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and support continuous improvement. Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and assembly requirements. Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and installation phases.
Documentation & Revision Control:
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, part files, and engineering change records. Ensure revision control accuracy and compliance with internal and external documentation standards. Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into updated drawings and models. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Or related experience. 0 -2 years of relevant experience. Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA or similar). Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of FEA, mechanical simulations, and tolerance analysis. Familiarity with industry safety and compliance standards.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
Prolonged periods working at a computer creating and reviewing CAD models. Regular presence on the manufacturing floor as needed for design validation. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and use required PPE.
