Job Title:
Mechanical Designer / Mechanical Project EngineerOverview We are seeking a full-time Mechanical Designer / Mechanical Project Engineer to support the design, modeling, and documentation of building mechanical systems for construction projects. This role works closely with project engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs. This position is primarily office-based with limited hybrid flexibility and offers hands-on involvement across all phases of design and project delivery, providing strong opportunities for technical and professional growth. Key Responsibilities + Collaborate with project engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated mechanical designs + Support the design, engineering, and production of project deliverables, including drawings, models, and technical documentation + Develop mechanical system designs (HVAC and related systems) using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD + Coordinate mechanical designs with other building systems to ensure integration across disciplines + Apply applicable national, state, and local building and energy codes to all designs + Prepare and revise drawings, models, and specifications using industry-standard tools + Utilize Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Revu for calculations, documentation, and design markups + Contribute to problem-solving efforts and design decisions to optimize system performance + Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders through written and verbal channels + Maintain a collaborative, team-oriented approach in a professional environment Required Qualifications + Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering + 1-5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design or engineering (internship experience may be considered) + Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD + Experience with Microsoft Office Suite + Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu or similar tools + Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills + Solid analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities + Working knowledge of building codes, energy codes, and industry standards + Experience with HVAC and building mechanical system design Preferred Qualifications + Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license + LEEDAP, WELL
AP, or other sustainability-related credentials + Interest in HVAC system design and building performance + Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment + Commitment to professional development and continuous learning Work Environment This role is primarily office-based with limited hybrid flexibility depending on project needs. You will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment alongside engineers and project leaders. Daily tasks involve the use of Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam to develop detailed mechanical designs and construction documentation. The team culture emphasizes collaboration, clear communication, and delivering high-quality, code-compliant engineering solutions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $58.00/hr.
