Essential Job Duties The duties of the Assistant Director will include, but not be limited to, the following: Management and Coordination of Engineering Labs Supervise locally hired staff for engineering lab classes Oversee the maintenance of lab and work area equipment Plan for and acquire the equipment needed in the lab and work area Update lab manuals and maintain inventory of materials students need for the labs Coordinate instructional support for Raleigh and local classes Coordinate with Raleigh instructors special office hours and review sessions and maintain a relationship with MAE and ECE departments Maintain and troubleshoot DE equipment working closely with Engineering Online classroom support staff in Raleigh Assist students with design projects as needed Work closely with Havelock staff and Raleigh staff in the receipt and/or transmission of class lectures from Raleigh or other site locations, such as Asheville Review and improve program processes and procedures to support program vision Implement ABET and University continuous improvement assessment processes. Oversee integrated curriculum to ensure skills are effectively built as students move through the program Manage and participate in program recruiting and outreach Seek out opportunities in regional K-12 schools and community colleges to teach or expose students with the various engineering disciplines Develop special activities for students and their parents to visit the Havelock Engineering program. Other Responsibilities In addition, the Assistant Director will work closely with the Director in the following duties Drive program continuous improvement Assist in maintaining partner relations (Cherry Point, CCC) and participate in joint initiatives Participate in and develop initiatives for student mentoring Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience BS in engineering and a minimum of three years in engineering practice (industry, government, or academia with extensive industry interactions). Other Required Qualifications Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly in verbal and written communications. Ability to work as a member of a team and independently. Must possess excellent management and organizational skills in the use of time and resources. Must be willing to travel to Raleigh and to high schools and/or community colleges for recruiting purposes. Must be willing to perform other duties as needed for the academic program.
