Tooling Design Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Tooling Design Engineer to design, build, and maintain progressive dies used in high volume metal stamping processes. This role also involves maintaining molds and ensuring the precision and quality of stamped parts. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain progressive dies for high volume metal stamping processes. Maintain molds and ensure precision and quality of stamped parts. Read blueprints and use CAD software proficiently. Operate basic machine tools and mechanical and optical measuring devices. Troubleshoot manufacturing issues to maintain precision and quality. Collaborate with other departments to determine tooling methods, applications, and design concepts. Obtain quotes for new dies and die repairs. Develop engineering specifications regarding mechanics, materials, tolerances, designs, and cost estimates. Inspect finished dies for accuracy and functionality. Order tooling and components for new die builds. Supervise the initial tool use in production. Essential Skills Proficiency in CAD design and metal stamping. Experience in AutoCAD design. Knowledge in electromechanical BOM and injection mold design. Strong engineering experience with 6+ years of tooling experience. Root cause problem-solving skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Broad knowledge of mechanical engineering. Experience in vendor communication. Work Environment This position requires onsite and hands-on support for Tooling Design and modification as well as production support. It is a balanced role with a 50-50 split between hands-on work and desk work. The work hours are Monday to Thursday from 6 AM to 4:30 PM and Friday from 6 AM to 10 AM. The role offers an opportunity for growth with a four-day schedule plus four hours on Friday, providing an extended weekend. The environment offers a variety of projects due to a high mix/low volume portfolio, perfect for those looking to escape a regulated or siloed environment.
