Position Overview Zachry is seeking a motivated Field Engineer - Mechanical to support the planning, design, procurement, construction, and quality assurance of mechanical systems and equipment on industrial and power generation projects. This role is ideal for an early-career mechanical engineer who wants hands-on exposure to field execution while building a strong technical foundation in mechanical design, construction coordination, and problem solving across complex industrial environments. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Critical thinking and sound judgment Attention to detail and commitment to quality Strong desire to learn and grow in a field-based engineering role Preferred Qualifications Engineer-in-Training (FE) certification, Professional Engineer (PE) license, or willingness to obtain both Power Plant Design or Power Plant Construction experience Exposure to heavy industrial or EPC project environments Physical Requirements Ability to communicate in person and through telephone, email, video conferencing, and software systems Ability to work at construction sites and industrial facilities, including ground-level and elevated locations Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, safety vests, gloves, and work boots Work Environment Work locations include offices, warehouses, and construction-site trailers or buildings Construction sites may involve moderate to high noise levels Job sites will include light to heavy equipment, materials, tools, vehicles, alarms, and active work crews Zachry is dedicated to providing a safe and drug-free work environment and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. #LI-SG1 Complete project-specific engineering objectives under the direction of a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Receive technical guidance on assignment objectives, complex features, and potential solution approaches Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports Assist mechanical designers and drafters with the development of equipment, piping, and mechanical system designs using CAD and 3D modeling software Research, design, evaluate, and support the installation of mechanical equipment, systems, and processes Conduct engineering studies to analyze feasibility, performance, operation, and system design Develop and test models of alternate designs to evaluate operating conditions, potential applications, and required modifications Specify system components and support design changes to ensure compliance with engineering and performance standards Independently apply standard engineering techniques and procedures with sound judgment on minor design adaptations Present technical information to peers and project team members to support reviews, troubleshooting, and implementation of operating procedures Provide discipline-specific technical support and assist with training for internal teams and customer personnel Serve as a liaison between the Design Engineering team and the Construction team to resolve field issues efficiently
