The Scott Technology Center opened in 2002 as a complimentary mission of the Peter Kiewit Institute. The Technology Center is comprised of 140,000 square feet of offices, labs and collaborative space hosting various industry, government, and academic organizations. In 2006, the Scott Data Center began operations. The 110,000 square foot purpose-built data center is Uptime Institute Tier 3 Certified in both design and construction. In 2022, Scott Managed Services launched in response to the changing data center industry and validated requirements from data center clients. The Scott Technology, Data Center and Managed Services are headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska but are expanding geographically through key strategic partnerships.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead facility mechanical and electrical projects, managing and communicating budgets, schedules, execution, and commissioning, ensuring on-time and quality completion of work Prepare capital project proposals, including writing requests for quotes (RFQs), obtaining quotes, rationalizing quotes, and making recommendations for preferred project vendors Provide subject matter expertise on mechanical, HVAC, and cooling installations Develop and manage processes and programs that result in sustainability and uptime of mechanical equipment Provide technical assistance on equipment down events and outages, including Reason for Outage (RFO) documentation and root cause/corrective action (RCCA) analysis Assist with safety procedure creation and documentation updates Maintain facility CAD drawings and other documentation Work with other personnel to integrate new and existing equipment with building management systems Develop and execute continuous improvement projects that impact metrics such as uptime, power usage effectiveness (PUE), regulatory compliance, etc. Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, outside service, and supply companies Meet expectations for attendance and punctuality in accordance with the expectations established by direct manager and NoAK Management LLC policy Other duties and projects as assigned Requirements:
Strong leadership abilities Strong understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC (including central cooling), and boiler systems Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and submittal documents Strong troubleshooting skills and root cause/corrective action (RCCA) ability Ability to simultaneously manage multiple data center projects with multiple vendors Strong computer skills, including 2D drafting experience (AutoCAD, DraftSight) Preferred:
1+ years of experience in data center, critical facilities, and/or secure facilities Experience with design of low/medium voltage electrical systems Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 5+ years of engineering experience Project management experience Valid driver's License WORK ENVIRONMENT
