Position:
Thermal-Hydraulics Test Engineer IILocation:
Camden, NJ (On-site) Holtec International is seeking a Thermal-Hydraulics Test Engineer II to support validation of thermal-hydraulic performance for safety-related and non-safety-related systems as part of the SMR-300 design certification and commercialization effort. This role is integral to ensuring test programs accurately reflect design requirements and support regulatory and technical objectives. The Thermal-Hydraulics Test Engineer II works within a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop, execute, and document test programs. This includes translating design and analysis requirements into test specifications, supporting test loop setup and execution, and delivering high-quality data packages to internal and external stakeholders.Minimum required qualifications include:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related discipline 0-2 years of relevant laboratory or test engineering experience Experience interpreting engineering drawings and P&IDs Experience with data reduction, analysis, and visualization Experience working in a QA-controlled or safety-related environment Ability to support on-site testing, extended test campaigns, and occasional travel Ability to work with minimal direction to solve complex technical problems and provide timely recommendations Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills Additional desirable qualifications: M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related discipline 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in laboratory or test engineering environments Experience with test loop/facility setup, commissioning, and operation Proficiency with Python and/or MATLAB for data reduction and visualization Familiarity with instrumentation selection, calibration, and data acquisition systems NQA-1 quality assurance experience and knowledge ofU.S. NRC
licensing processes Experience developing test plans, procedures, reports, and design verification documentation Experience interacting directly with internal or external test sponsors.Specific Areas of Responsibility:
Develop test requirements based on SMR-300 design and analysis inputs Translate technical requirements into detailed test plans, procedures, and specifications Support design, setup, commissioning, and operation of thermal-hydraulic test loops and facilities Execute test programs, including on-site testing and extended test campaigns Ensure proper data acquisition, validation, and quality control in accordance with QA standards Perform data reduction, analysis, and visualization to support engineering conclusions Prepare comprehensive test reports and data packages for internal and external stakeholders Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure alignment between testing and design objectives Interface with test sponsors to define requirements, communicate progress, and deliver results Ensure all testing activities comply with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements Identify and resolve technical issues encountered during test planning and execution Support continuous improvement of test methods, tools, and processes. $105,000-$125,000 annually.
