Job Description:
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our MEP engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, and coordination of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical building systems for commercial, healthcare, life sciences, institutional, industrial, and mission-critical projects. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project development, from conceptual design through construction administration. Key Responsibilities Design HVAC systems including air distribution, hydronic systems, heating, cooling, ventilation, and exhaust systems. Perform engineering calculations including heating and cooling load analysis, equipment sizing, ductwork and piping design, and energy studies. Prepare construction documents, specifications, technical reports, and engineering narratives. Develop mechanical system layouts and models using Revit and AutoCAD. Coordinate designs with electrical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and other project stakeholders. Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project coordination efforts. Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction administration activities. Review RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices. Support project managers with scheduling, budgeting, and technical deliverables. Mentor junior engineers and designers as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Experience in MEP consulting, HVAC design, or building systems engineering. Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and HVAC design software. Strong understanding of ASHRAE standards, International Mechanical Code (IMC), International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), and related industry standards. Experience designing mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, life sciences, industrial, or institutional facilities. Excellent communication, organization, and coordination skills. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred; Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus. Preferred Skills Experience with load calculation and energy modeling software such as Trane Trace, HAP, IESVE, or similar tools. Knowledge of sustainable design principles, high-performance buildings, and energy-efficient systems. Familiarity with BIM workflows and multidisciplinary coordination processes. Experience with central utility plants, cleanrooms, laboratories, healthcare facilities, or mission-critical environments is a plus. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
