Job Description:

This role focuses on leading the design, execution, and delivery of complex mechanical and HVAC engineering projects while ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and efficient project performance. You will play a key role in managing multidisciplinary teams, delivering high-quality engineering solutions, and supporting business growth through client engagement and project success. The position spans the full project lifecycle-from system design and energy modeling to construction support, quality assurance, staff development, and client coordination. You will collaborate closely with leadership, engineers, and clients to deliver high-performance building systems while meeting project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and direct project staff to ensure efficiency, productivity, and alignment with project scope, level of detail, and budget Design mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in accordance with client requirements and engineering standards Serve as Engineer of Record when required, including signing and sealing drawings under your supervision Perform load calculations, system analysis, and energy modeling using tools such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, and Carrier HAP Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, layouts, and detailed mechanical/HVAC drawings Ensure all designs comply with applicable federal, state, local codes, and industry standards Conduct QA/QC reviews of engineering documents to maintain quality and accuracy Provide technical direction and mentorship to Engineers in Training and junior staff Perform site surveys, attend pre-bid meetings, and provide construction support and administration Assist in proposal development, client management, and successful project execution Monitor and support training and development of engineering team members Collaborate with internal teams and clients to resolve technical issues and achieve project objectives

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred but not required) Minimum 12+ years of progressive experience in mechanical/HVAC engineering and project leadership Strong experience managing large, multi-disciplinary engineering projects Deep knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems Experience with load calculations and energy modeling tools (eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, Carrier HAP) Strong knowledge of local, state, and national codes and standards Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit/BIM preferred Strong time management skills with ability to handle multiple deadlines Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to manage teams, delegate tasks, and oversee workflow effectively Strong financial awareness and project budget management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience in energy efficiency, sustainability, and design-build construction MBA or advanced certification in engineering, business, or related field Knowledge of

USGBC LEED

rating systems and sustainable design practices Experience working on healthcare, commercial, or institutional projects Strong client-facing experience and business development exposure Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
