All On-site Job Description Job Description:
We are actively seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer with a specialization in deep drawn metal stamping to join our innovative engineering team. This position requires a detail-oriented engineer with a comprehensive understanding of product design and advanced manufacturing processes, specifically in high-Client metal forming techniques.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize tooling and fixtures for deep drawn metal stamping processes. Ensure these designs facilitate maximum productivity, efficiency, and quality throughout the manufacturing workflow. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including production, quality assurance, research and development, and supply chain management, to develop creative and practical solutions to complex manufacturing challenges. Utilize advanced CAD software tools (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA) to create detailed 2D and 3D models. Generate comprehensive engineering drawings conforming to industry standards to facilitate clear communication of design intent. Conduct thorough feasibility analyses and computer simulations to evaluate design concepts, optimize deep drawing processes, and anticipate potential manufacturing issues prior to production. Select appropriate materials and establish manufacturing processes and tolerances that align with design specifications, regulatory standards, and customer requirements, ensuring high-quality deliverables. Perform detailed root cause analysis on production anomalies and implement effective corrective actions, utilizing methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, or Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to enhance process reliability. Oversee the prototyping phase, developing initial models for testing. Analyze test results rigorously and make iterative adjustments to designs based on empirical data and feedback from production teams to refine product performance. Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, employing Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance process efficiencies, reduce waste, and lower production costs. Maintain meticulous documentation of design processes, modifications, and specifications. Ensure all design changes are accurately recorded and communicated to relevant stakeholders for future reference.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering within deep drawn metal stamping, ideally in high-volume manufacturing environments such as automotive, aerospace, or industrial machinery sectors. Advanced proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with simulation tools for finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Strong understanding of metallurgy, metal forming mechanics, and manufacturing processes, including deep drawing, stamping, and machining. Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a systematic approach to troubleshooting and overcoming design and manufacturing challenges. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear dialogue with team members, suppliers, and customers to ensure alignment and project success.
Project Management Experience:
Proven experience in project management, with the ability to lead and manage multiple design projects simultaneously from conception through to production.
Lean and Six Sigma Knowledge:
Certification or demonstrable knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline. We offer attractive, competitive compensation and benefits including, medical, dental, 401k, short-term disability, AD&D, tuition reimbursement, and more.
