Job Description
What to Expect Our production control team at Gigafactory Nevada will be a part of operating, sustaining, and improving some of the most automated manufacturing equipment in the world. The best candidate for the position has a high aptitude to learn new skillsets in the position. The expectation is that an engineers will start with strengths in a given field (AUTOCAD, robotics, PLC Programming, vision, Python, HMI scripting, etc) and then learn all other areas from those who work with them. This role requires capability across the board to sustain all parts of the automated equipment. The expectation is not that you arrive on day 1 with this capability, but that you have the aptitude and desire to learn all aspects of automation. What You'll Do Sustain 24 by 7 production operations through responding to and resolving breakdowns quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime Work collaboratively with design, product excellence, production operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Maintenance and other cross functional teams as the expert to ensure production lines run in a safe, efficient manner producing high quality parts Program ladder logic and structured text on multiple PLC controller platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens and Beckhoff) Program and teach industrial 6-axis robots (Fanuc)Sequence complex, multi-station machinery for material pick-and-place, dispense, fastening, welding and conveyance applications Manage engineering projects with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and successfully integrate fleet equipment throughout areas in the factory Lead equipment upgrades with a focus on serviceability, reliability and process capability Drive project improvements on Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors (VRCs) and other material flow fixed conveyance and ASRS systems Responsible for continuous process optimization of automated lines Become owner / subject matter expert to drive equipment-related process improvement including detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis Build training material, maintenance routines, service bulletins, and related documentation related to cradle to grave equipment life cycle management What You'll Bring Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Good overall computer skills with demonstrated ability in a programming language Structured problems solving methodologies (DMAIC, 8D, etc) Able to work under intense time pressure in the presence others Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and configuration Experience with robot programming, backup and restoration Experience in automotive or high volume manufacturing is highly desired Willing to work days, afternoons, nights and weekends as determined by project needs Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Tesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
